Obituary of Michael Kiefel

Michael S. Kiefel 62 of Libertyville died Tuesday Sept. 25, 2012 at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville, IL. He was born Oct. 3, 1949 in Cincinnati, Ohio and had been a resident of Libertyville for the past 7 years. Michael was a graduate of Capital University of Columbus, Ohio. He was a Sr. IT Process Engineer for Abbott Laboratories where he had worked for over 29 years at locations in Sturgis, MI, Columbus, OH and Lake County, IL. Michael was a 25 year member of the American Society for Quality, was certified by ASQ as a Software Quality Engineer and would mentor his colleagues in Software Quality. In his free time he enjoyed golf, hiking, bicycling, swimming and cross country skiing. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary Jo Mercier, his loving children Matthew (Jeanine), Nick and Rebecca (Joshua) Clarke, he was the proud grandfather of Xander the dearest brother of Brad (Ruby) Kiefel, Pat (Bob) Thomsen, Barbara (Cliff) Young and the late Shelly (Tom) Ratliff, the devoted son of the late Stanley and Lois (nee Moore) Kiefel, Jr., nephew of Carol A. Kiefel, and a dear uncle and cousin. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Sat Sept. 29 at Grace Lutheran Church, 501 Valley Park Dr., Libertyville, Illinois. Interment will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, OH at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 1. Visitation Friday Sept. 28 from 4-8 PM at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville. In lieu of flowers memorial donations made to the Grace Lutheran Church would be greatly appreciated.
