Justin Duane (Bud) Whelan, M.D., 82 of Libertyville, IL, passed into eternity August 5, 2015. Son of Justin and Margaret and brother to the late Robert(Gay) and Thomas (Julie). He is survived by his wife of 58 years Eileen Catherine (nee McDonough), son David (married to Cathy, children Kevin, Lauren and Caitlyn), daughter Susan Kane (married to James, children Erin, Michael, Alexander and Allie), daughter Diane Bierman (children Brittany, Rachel), son Daniel (married to Amy, children Ryan, Madeline, Colin and Sarah) son Michael and son William (married to Liz, children Anna and Declan).
Dr. Whelan was in practice for over thirty years in the Lake County area as a general surgeon at Condell Memorial Hospital, Libertyville, IL, St. Theresa and Victory Memorial Hospitals’, Waukegan, IL, and the VA Hospital, North Chicago, IL.
Visitation 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2015 at St. Joseph’s Church, 121 E. Maple, Libertyville, IL 60048, 847-362-2073. Funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. followed by chapel service at Ascension Cemetery, 1920 Buckley Rd., Libertyville, IL 60048, 847-362-1247.
