Obituary of Barbara Nield

Barbara Nield (nee Leister), 54, of Libertyville passed away August 13, 2015 after a nearly yearlong bout with cancer. She was born and raised in Milwaukee, WI and after marrying David Nield moved to Libertyville. Barbara was deeply involved in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and School throughout her time in Libertyville; including Pre-Cana Counselor, lunch-mom/room mom, Children’s Liturgies' and most recently a team leader at the Waukegan soup kitchen. She also devoted 11 years working at the Liturgical Institute at Mundelein Seminary, University of St. Mary of the Lake. Barbara also volunteered as an adult leader for both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. In her free time, she loved gardening, baking, hosting friends in her backyard and playing games with her family. She loved her role as mom and sharing her Catholic faith. Barbara is survived by her husband of 29 years David Nield; her children Genevieve, Tom, Dan, Joey; her mother Joanne (née Dobratz) Weisling, of Kewaskum, WI and her husband Leonard; her sister Mary (née Leister) Cornelius of West Bend, WI and her brother James Leister from Kewaskum, WI. Visitation for Barbara will be held Tuesday August 18 from 4-8 pm at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E Maple Ave, Libertyville with a rosary service at 4 pm and brief public prayers at 6 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Following the Mass, there will be a luncheon at St. Joe's Koenig Center with Sharing of Stories and Remembrances.
