Jose Luis “Joe” Aguilar, 81 years old, upstanding and lifelong resident of Libertyville, IL, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 peacefully. He was born on March 19, 1935, in Salinas, San Luis Potosi Mexico. Jose was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Joseph’s Church, Libertyville, IL for 58 years. In addition, a proud member of The Brotherhood of Maintenance Way Railroad, The Knights of Columbus Cardinal Stritch Council #3674 as a 4th degree member as well as being a member of the Knollwood Sportsman Club of Lake Bluff, IL. He was a dedicated volunteer donating his time to many charities and groups such as; Libertyville Days, Tootsie Roll Drives, Marytown Christmas tree sales, St. Joseph Bread Ministry and collecting and distributing food for the needy. Jose was very dedicated and proud to have worked 53 years in many capacities on the railroad as Foreman, Section Foreman, Road Master for the Milwaukee Road, Soo Line, Canadian Pacific (CP), Amtrak, and Metra receiving several safety and recognition awards. Jose was a devoted sport fan of all Chicago sports teams. He loved to BBQ/cookout, garden, work in his yard, and feed wildlife on his property. Jose loved his children, grandchildren and was proud of the adults they became. Jose Luis “Joe” Aguilar is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years to Crescentia G. Aguilar (nee Guerra); daughters Maria E. Coton-Stephens (Tyrone) of Libertyville, IL and Marisaura Aguilar-East (John) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; grandchildren Nicole Y. Coton, Indianapolis, IN and Kyle A. East of Virginia Beach, VA; and sister Carmen Aranda of Mexico. He was preceded in death by his mother Maria Eulalia Aguilar, father Trinidad Robledo, sister Sarah Aguilar-Robledo and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass 10AM Friday April 29 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E Maple Ave, Libertyville. Interment Ascension Cemetery. Visitation Thursday April 28th from 4 – 8 PM at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place (Rt 176, 1 Block E of Milwaukee Ave) Libertyville.
