Obituary of Gloria Crisologo Avila
Gloria Crisologo Avila, a beloved mother to 4 children, doting grandmother to 9. Originally from Angeles City and Mabalacat City, Pampanga, she spent the last five years of her full life in Vernon Hills, Ill. She passed away on the 26th of January, leaving a void that will never be filled. She was 78 years old.
She was born in Angeles City, Pampanga in 1946 to Modesto and Adela, and would fondly recall how she would walk a good distance to school during her younger days.
Gloria attended the Slim’s Fashion Arts and School in Makati shortly after getting married to Angelito and would eventually take over her mother-in-law’s, Isabela’s dressmaking business and set up a well-regarded dressmaking shop in Mabalacat she called Fashion House 27 during the late 70’s.
Gloria was a devoted mother and grandmother to; ALLAN-Reza / Bea & Bianca; JOMEL-Iris / Katyana & Liam; Roy-DEEDEE / Gaby, Lexi & Joaquin; Paolo-CESS / Raphee & Issie. She showed them the value of hard work and of dreaming of bigger things and never giving up. Of all the things she would tell them and later her grand kids, ‘Bloom Where You Are Planted” will be most treasured. She took on life head on and never looked back.
Gloria took special pride and joy in wearing the brown scapular which is a symbol of the Carmelite’s Order’s special devotion to Mary. She is known as Maria Gloria of The Blessed Sacrament within the Carmelite Order.
Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Angelito, and is survived by her 4 children and their families, who will never forget the love she brought to their lives, the strength and character she displayed specially in the last years of her life.
A gathering of family and friends is scheduled on February 14 from 4pm to 8 pm at McMurrough Funeral Home, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. , and a celebration of life at St Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E Maple Ave, Libertyville on February 15th at 10 am.
One of her last requests was to say this prayer on her behalf;
Oh Blessed. Virgin Mother, Mary, lay your comforting hands on your humble servant, Maria Gloria of The Blessed Sacrament. Pray for her and lift her up to your beloved son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ that she may peacefully rest in heaven with you and all her loved ones, especially Angelito, who had gone before her.
In Jesus name, we pray.
Amen.
