Obituary of Paul Howard Adler
Paul Adler, 64, passed away on February 26 at home. He was the devoted husband of Rebecca (nee Hagemann), proud father of Adam O’Sullivan (Gina Winkler), beloved brother of Merle Vallieres, Jay (Lalaine), Reid (Diane Turner), David (Patricia), Shaindel Kost (Gary), and Joan Rieger (Richard); brother-in-law to Matthew Hagemann (Lavonda) and Scott Hagemann; and uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mildred (nee Kropifko) and Lester Adler.
Paul was born in Chicago and grew up in Skokie, Illinois, with a band of buddies who remained his friends for life. His career was spent in the IT realm of the pharma industry. Many hobbies and interests supplemented his full life, including operating a popular north suburban billiard league; playing golf with his son; acting and singing on stages throughout Chicago and the suburbs; playing poker with the same group of friends for 40+ years; and curating backyard wildlife photos from his wildlife camera and sharing them on social media with humorous captions. He loved chess, logic puzzles, and all types of brain challenges. He was a lifelong Cubs fan who loved digging into the statistical side of baseball. His courage in enduring a lifetime of health challenges incited by a Type I diabetes diagnosis as a child was an inspiration to his friends and family. His humor, calm demeanor, and loving nature were a balm to all who knew him.
Visitation on Tuesday, March 4 between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., followed by memorial service at 11:00 a.m., McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville, IL 60048. Private burial follows.
Paul loved all animals; in lieu of flowers, donations to the following organizations will honor Paul’s memory.
