Please share a memory of John to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

John P. Reuskens, aged 91, a cherished resident of Libertyville for many years and a veteran of the US Marines during the Korean War, peacefully passed away on March 19, 2024, at Advocate Condell Medical Center. Born in Chicago, John faced early challenges, losing his mother when he was just two years old. Raised by compassionate nuns, he later graduated from Maryville Academy. Following his schooling, John embarked on a journey of service and dedication. Initially, he worked at the Saint Mary on the Lake Seminary before bravely enlisting in the US Marines. Stationed in Korea during the war's conclusion, he displayed courage and commitment to his country. Returning home, John embarked on a successful career with ComEd, where his tenure spanned over 30 years, culminating in his retirement as a respected supervisor. In his retirement, he found profound peace in the embrace of nature, particularly relishing his time spent at his cabin in Oxford, Wisconsin.

A passionate animal lover, John found joy in the companionship of his beloved dogs over the years, cherishing their walks together. He also indulged in hobbies such as coin collecting and cherished hiking adventures with his wife, especially their explorations of the Porcupine Mountains. Remembered for his kind and gentle nature, John leaves behind a legacy of warmth and thoughtfulness. His quiet strength and compassion touched the lives of many, and his absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him.

John is survived by his daughters , Debbie (George) Estrada of Lockhart, TX and Diane Reuskens of Park City; his son John (Sheila) Reuskens of Waukegan; his grandchildren George Jr., Amanda and Anthony and 16 great-grandchildren of Lockhart, TX; his in-laws Barbara (the late Jerry) Becker and Marabeth Loomis and his best friend his dog Lucky. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Alliene Reuskens; his loving wife of 48 years Patricia; his daughter Sue Reuskens; his brothers William and Don (Debra); his in-laws Rod (Kathy) Loomis and Jackie (Katie).
