Carol Marie Hughes passed away peacefully on November 22, 2016 at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge following a severe stroke. Born in Washington, D.C. in 1954, Coco was the first child of Carol Hughes and the late Bill Hughes. Coco was preceded in death by her cherished sister Suzy Fitzpatrick, and survived by beloved sisters Maryann Mullin (Bill), Patsy Gnadt (Allen) and Theresa Whalen (Joe) and brother Edward Hughes (Kathy). Her large, loving family includes nieces and nephews Will, Maley and Leo Mullin; Allison Coltman (Geoff) and Megan Schultz (Mike); Erin Seeley (Mike) and Caitlin and Edward Fitzpatrick; Joseph and Molly Whalen; and Claire Hughes. Coco was also blessed with great nephews Eamon, Owen and Patrick Seeley; Nathan and Will Coltman; and, most recently, by her special Halloween baby Morgan Schultz.
A visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Saint Mary of Vernon Catholic Church at 236 US Highway 45, Indian Creek, Illinois followed by Mass at 11:00. Memorial gifts in Coco’s honor can be made to The Cradle, an adoption agency in Evanston, Illinois or to Jumpstart, an early education and literacy advocacy organization in Boston, Massachusetts.
