Obituary of Philip Ruedig
Philip John Ruedig, born November 15, 1928, in Evanston, IL was a lifelong resident of the north shore of Chicago. He passed away peacefully in Lincolnshire, IL on April 24th, 2023.
At 94 years his life contained more than most could ever dream of. He was the younger of the two boys, and enjoyed summers at Lake Mills Wisconsin. Phil attended Butler University, it was here that he met the love of his life Anne at the young age of 17. Anne was his first date and his sweetheart for the rest of his life. After marriage he continued his education earning an MBA at Wharton School of Business. After college, he joined the US military as an officer to support the war effort in Korea. Returning home from the war, his education and leadership experience lead to a long successful career in starting and running a worldwide Flavoring business. Phil and Ann raised their five children on the North Shore where they loved to entertain their many friends and business associates. Phil attended the children’s school functions to include Baseball, Soccer and Tennis matches. Phil’s hobbies included aviation flying airplanes, playing jazz piano, golf, tennis, and traveling the world. His wife was at his side on most adventures including the addition of 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Phil’s love for Anne continued as he spent several years as primary care giver for Anne’s Alzheimer’s disease. Phil joins his wife Anne of 52 years, his deceased son Bruce (Therese), his loving children Brad (Stacey), son Brian, and twin daughters Laura Metz (Bob) and Amy Poyo (Bob). A family Military Funeral service will be held at Fort Sheridan National Cemetery.
