Obituary of Mary C. Liddy

Mary C. Liddy, age 69, passed away unexpectedly on June 7, 2023 at her home in Vernon Hills, Illinois.

She is survived by her brother Brian Liddy and his wife Mary F. Liddy, brother James Liddy and his partner Bob Rizzo, brother Mark Liddy, niece Maureen Liddy Strup and her husband Spencer Strup, nephew Jim Liddy and grandniece Reagan Strup. Mary was preceded in death by her parents James and Helen Liddy, and her former husband Jeffrey Weess.

Mary was born in Morristown, New Jersey, on December 1, 1954. In 1962, her family moved to Deerfield, Illinois where she graduated from Deerfield High School in 1972. Following her high school graduation, Mary attended the University of Missouri at Columbia.

During her career, Mary worked at the Lincolnshire Marriott for more than 30 years, where she made many lasting friendships with her associates.

One of her favorite past times was traveling to Florida to visit her dear friend, (now deceased) sister-in-law Alison Weess Laurent. Mary was also close with her East Coast relatives, especially cousins Monsignor Richard Liddy, Terry Liddy and Colette Liddy, and treasured her time out East sharing memories of Liddy history, heritage and traditions.

Mary was a passionate animal lover and enjoyed spending leisure time with her pet dogs over the years, including Crimson, King, Bear and Bella. Knowing the importance of pet adoption, two of Mary’s dogs, Bear and Bella, were Keeshond rescues.

A memorial Mass will be held at the Joseph and Mary Retreat House at 1300 Stritch Dr. in Mundelein, Illinois on Friday, August 25, at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends can gather before the Mass beginning at 1:00 p.m. Immediately following the Mass, interment will be at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
