Obituary of Phil Wilson

Phil Wilson, 76, of Gurnee, passed away peacefully Oct 22, 2023 in Mundelein. Phil was a proud graduate of Mount Carmel High School and received his bachelor's degree in Accounting from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. He went on to receive his Enrolled Agent status specializing in income tax. Phil had a 4-decade long career in accounting working both privately and for an accounting firm. In addition, Phil also dedicated 39 years of service to the Department of Defense as a financial auditor. Phil’s greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family and playing golf. He is known by his family as “Friendly Phil” because everyone loved him, he will be dearly missed.

Phil is survived by his loving wife of 52 year Pat; his dearest daughter Kimberly Huster; his cherished grandchildren Kameron, Amber and Gavin; his dearest siblings Rowena and Julie; and dearest siblings-in-law Bill (Pat) Phelan, Kathy (Tom) Lipinski, Margaret Phelan, Denis (Judy) Phelan, Richard (Jane) Phelan and Mark (Judy) Phelan; and many nieces and nephews.

The funeral Mass for Phil will be celebrated at 11:00 am Thursday Oct 26^th at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 6401 Gages Lake Rd, Gurnee, where there will be a visitation at the church one hour prior to Mass. Funeral arrangements by McMurrough Funeral Chapel (847) 362-2626.
