Obituary of Marcia G. Morrison

Marcia G. Morrison, 84, of Libertyville, formerly of Homewood, IL, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024 peacefully at home. Marcia’s life was marked by a deep devotion to her husband, family, faith, and friends as well as her verve for life, sense of humor and the warmth and graciousness she extended to everyone she encountered. 

Marcia was born in Chicago to Howard and Helen (nee O’Meara) Linton on November 17, 1939. She grew up on the southside with her siblings– Audrey, Douglas and Linda. She attended St. Margaret of Scotland grade school and The Academy of our Lady (Longwood Academy) and was a proud Mundelein College ‘Mundle Bundle’. Later, she earned a degree in Library Science from Prairie State College. 

Marcia met a dapper young Irishman named Tom at a young person’s Catholic event and the rest was history, marrying her beloved husband in 1961. Tom and Marcia embarked on their life adventure in Glenwood, IL where they started a family, raised their five children in Homewood, eventually settling in Libertyville. Marcia was a committed volunteer, most notably helping to start the library at St. Joseph School in Homewood. 

Marcia was an avid reader, an expert crossword puzzler and a whiz at math. You could always find her doing a puzzle. She loved to cross stitch and was a proud member of her quilting group. A lifelong learner, Marcia educated herself on a wide array of topics that piqued her interest, especially about the countries and cultures she and Tom visited. 

Marcia is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Tom, and is survived by her children Eileen (Joseph) Santschi, T.J. (Clare), Patti (Kevin) O’Donnell, Emmet (Suzan) and Megan (Jason) Komenda; her adoring grandchildren Elizabeth (Timothy), Matthew (Brittany), Nora, Fiona, Ava, Jack, Margaret, Grace, Emma, Kate, Thomas and Maeve; her cherished great-grandchildren Owen and Jack; her dear sister Linda and her nieces and nephews. 

Funeral Mass for Marcia will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, May 24th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple Avenue, Libertyville and also via livestream. Interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville. Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, May 23rd at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville.
