Obituary of Nancy Kingsley

Nancy Kingsley (nee Murray) passed away peacefully at the age of 89. A longtime resident of Wayne, Illinois, and more recently of Libertyville, Nancy was born in Chicago to Gordon and Elvira Murray.

She graduated from Parker High School, where she met her beloved husband, Arthur. Their love story began as high school sweethearts, crowned Prom King and Queen, and blossomed into over 70 years of devoted marriage.

Nancy began her career as a secretary at Continental Bank in Chicago. After starting a family, she joined her husband’s business, Kingsley Builders, Inc., as the office manager, proving to be a true partner in all aspects of their lives.

Nancy had a lifelong passion for Golden Retrievers, and her furry companions brought her endless joy. She cherished her daily walks to the Wayne Post Office with them to collect the family mail, and she was rarely seen without a brush in hand to groom them. A talented baker, Nancy delighted her family with homemade birthday cakes and expertly crafted pies and cookies using treasured family recipes. She also loved playing the piano, memorizing many challenging pieces by heart, and spent time volunteering at Delnor Hospital.

Faith was an integral part of Nancy's life. She was a devoted member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in St. Charles, where she regularly attended the 8:00 a.m. service and volunteered on the Altar Guild.

Nancy was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Nancy is survived by her adoring husband, Arthur; loving children Arthur Jr. (Patte), Lee Anne (Jeb) Wright, and Laura (Mark) Flexsenhar; cherished grandchildren Melissa (Clayton) Seiler, Andrew Kingsley, Emily (Tommy) Gaston, Nathan (Krista) Wright, Brandon (Ashley) Flexsenhar, and Amanda (Tyler) Penley; and her dearest great-grandchildren Katy, Henry, Sarah, Robert, Lillian, Genevieve, Gianna, Payton, and Jacob. She is also survived by nine nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her granddaughter Morgan Marie Flexsenhar, and her brother Gordon (Joyce) Murray.

Funeral services for Nancy will be held at 11AM on Friday Jan 10th, 2025 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 1151 N St. Mary’s Rd, Libertyville, with a visitation at the church one hour prior to the service. Private interment will take place at North Cemetery, St. Charles. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Lewy Body Dementia Association (https://www.lbda.org/) or As Good As Gold Golden Retriever Rescue of Illinois (https://www.asgoodasgold.org/) would be greatly appreciated.
