Obituary of Loren Robert Jahn
Loren Robert Jahn, a beloved husband, father and community member, passed away on December 29, 2024, at the age of 87. Born in Chicago on March 18, 1937, Loren graduated from Grayslake High School in 1955. He served his country in the Army, stationed in Korea for 18 months. Loren dedicated his career to the grocery industry, managing stores for National Tea Co. around Lake County before fulfilling his entrepreneurial dream by opening his own Shop-Rite store in Wisconsin. A dedicated member of his community, Loren actively participated in the Grayslake Jaycees, the Rotary Club of Libertyville, and Boy Scout Troop 260 of Libertyville alongside his sons. Upon retirement, Loren and his wife Arlene fulfilled a lifelong dream by moving to Tucson, Arizona, where they enjoyed 11 happy years. The pull of family brought them back to Illinois to be closer to their sons and grandchildren.
Loren is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Arlene; sons Michael (Lora), David (Mariya), grandchildren Derek, Michael, Marissa and Ava Jahn; brothers Ron and Tom and sister Donna; nephews Stephen (Jill) and Patrick (Shea) and niece Missy. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers William and Arthur.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 AM on Thursday Jan 9th at St. Joseph Church, 121 E Maple Ave., Libertyville, with a visitation one hour before at Church. Visitation will be held at church one hour prior to Mass. Interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials made to your local food pantry would be greatly appreciated.
