I worked with Maureen at the high school cafeteria in Fort Myers, FL from 2010 until she retired. I would keep in touch with her since her family was far away. She once told me she would not leave Florida since the weather was almost always warm. I would ask her if she was traveling to California or Illinois around the holidays since she loved traveling to visit family. As much as she loved her family, she also loved her Cubs!
She told me, "I probably won't be alive to see my Cubs in the World Series." I told her to have faith and one day, they would make it. I know she definitely was skeptical but just said, "OK". I really believe she, as well as other lifelong fans of the Cubs, had something to do with the World Series victory last night. I want to express my condolences to Maureen's family on your loss. Your Mom was a special lady!!
