Obituary of Robert C. Peterson
Robert C. Peterson, 90, US Army WWII, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side April 16, 2018. Bob was born in Chicago and in his younger years was a lifeguard for the Chicago beaches and enjoyed bending the rules. During WWII he was stationed in Germany following VE-Day. Returning from service he obtained his engineering degree at the University of Illinois. Bob worked as a structural engineer for Bethlehem Steel and Gerber Ironworks and was a business owner of International Steel in Wheeling. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family at his lake house in Twin Lakes and playing chess, bridge and board games. He was truly grateful to be on an Honor Flight to Washington DC two years ago.
Robert is survived by his loving wife Carolyn (nee Prince) of 64 years; his adoring children Ray (Courtney), Doreen, Ed, and Jim (Janet); his cherished grandchildren Lindsay, Lisa, Stephanie, Diana, Rick, Matt, Robert, Josh, Alex, Ryan and Chris; and his much loved great-grandchildren Ollie and Ethan; and his dear brother Don (the late Lee).
Visitation for Bob will be 4:00 – 6:30 pm Friday April 20th at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl (Route 176, 1 Block East of Milwaukee Ave) Libertyville. Funeral Service with Military Honors will follow at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Stjude.org or parkinson.org. Funeral information (847) 362-2626.
