Obituary of Vida Yarc
Vida “Babe” Yarc (nee Grum), 87, lifetime Libertyville resident passed away peacefully on December 25, 2020. She was born July 15, 1933 in Waukegan, IL. Vida is survived by her three children, Vida “Snook” (Jason) Ludington, Harvey (Kelli) Yarc and Diane (Steve) Risdon. She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Shay , Jake, Andy (Katie), Arin (Kevin), Austin (Lori), Ally (Tommy), Zak (Liz) and Matt. Completing her family are nine great-grandchildren: Isabella, Jackson, Owen, Lucy, Korbyn, Kyler, Summer, Sawyer and Hadley; her brother-in-law Larry (Camille) Yarc and many nieces and nephews. Vida was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 55 years, Ed, her parents Stan and Vida Grum and brother Stan Jr. (Margaret) Grum. Vida was the Head Baker at Libertyville High School for 23 years affectionately known as the “Cookie Lady” where she found her true passion for baking. Whether it was potica, ginger crisps or her infamous butter cookies, she loved teaching her family her baking secrets. She also taught calligraphy at Libertyville High School for 15 years perfecting what many will say is the most beautiful handwriting they ever saw. Her front door was on a swivel – always welcoming company with a game of cards, a cup of coffee and whatever sweet treat she had in the house. Grandma and grandpa’s house was where cousins went to become best friends and there was never a time when her candy jar was not full in anticipation for their beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren to come play, color or learn a new card game. Due to COVID-19 restrictions there are no services for Vida. A celebration of Vida's life will be held later when it is safe to gather.
