Obituary of Rosalie Schafer Bradley

Rosalie Schafer Bradley, 93, was called Home to God on January 3, 2021, of natural causes. She had a wonderful life and was grateful for each and every day. She was born on Christmas Eve 1927 and raised in Wilmington, Delaware. Her family spent their Summers in her beloved Rehoboth Beach, a tradition she continued with her own children and grandchildren. Rosalie graduated from the University of Delaware in 1950. She loved college life and began dating the love of her life, Joseph A. Bradley, Jr. They married in 1950 and enjoyed 51 years of marriage before Joe’s death in 2003. Rosalie enjoyed her career as an elementary school teacher, first in Wilmington, DE, and then in Fullerton, CA, where they moved in 1955. In 1967, the couple settled for the remainder of their lives in Libertyville, IL, with a Summer home in Whitewater, WI. Rosalie was a strong, faithful woman, attending St. Joseph’s Parish in Libertyville. Rosalie spent her life filled with the joy of family and was always searching for an opportunity to help others through her many volunteer endeavors. Rosalie is preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph A. Bradley, Jr., parents, John D. Schafer and Rosalie Farrell Schafer, stepmother, Laura Schafer Mitchell, brother, John D. Schafer II, sister, Louzetta Schafer Lower Morris, sister, Joan Schafer Speakman, stepbrother, Robert X. Miller, daughter, Laurie Louzetta Von Holten and son-in-law, Rodney David Von Holten. Loving mother of Joseph A. Bradley III, Charles J. Bradley, Jamie (Brit) Swisher, Christopher (Suzanne) Bradley, Catherine (Brett) Hutson; proud grandmother of Chris (Heather) Jacobson, Leary (Bill) Morris, Megan (Svein) Bradley, Elizabeth Bradley, Joseph A. Bradley IV, Brenna, Carlin and Gillian Bradley, Sydney, Maxwell and Ellery Von Holten, Trevor and Charles Hutson; proud great-grandmother of Weston and Hayden Jacobson and Lucille Rosalie and Henry Morris. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Story Point Libertyville, Bright Star and Integrated Palliative and Hospice for the excellent care and compassion given to Rosalie. We would also like to share our sincerest gratitude to Father Valerian Laini for his support, celebrations and many blessings.
