Obituary of Ruth Evelyn Duran
Ruth Evelyn Duran (nee Nelson), 90, of Vernon Hills, passed away peacefully May 19, 2021 surrounded by her daughter Patti and niece Judith Boyd. She was born in Michigan City, IN to the late Anna S. and Rev. Paul V. Nelson and was the mother to Patti Long of Vernon Hills.
Ruth devoted her life to the care of others. Her happiest moments in life were when she was thinking of others, whether at Christmas time for her many nieces and nephews or when anyone was in need of a friend. Her greatest pride in life was raising her daughter Patti and maintaining that close relationship throughout life. She found great fulfillment in being a Registered Nurse and maintained her license until her passing, and retired only a few short years ago. She is remembered for her strong faith.
Ruth is survived by her loving daughter Patti Long (Ryan); nieces and nephews, Cynthia Bellefeuille, George Bellefeuille (Marie), Mark Thompson (Nanette), Judith Boyd (Lewis), Ruth Marchese (Charles), Laurel Voellmecke, Kenneth Bellefeuille (Patricia), Rev. Paul Thompson (Jana), Lois Kessler, Rev. Charles Thompson (Laura); and many great-nieces and great-nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Lorraine Thompson and Lois Bellefeuille; her brothers-in-law, Robert Thompson and Theodore Bellefeuille, who were special to both Ruth and Patti; her nephew Johnny Thompson and great-nephew Peter Marchese.
