Obituary of Richard G Boyd

Richard G Boyd, 83, of Libertyville, passed away July 26, 2021. Dick was a proud graduate of Watertown, NY High School Class of 1956 and Clarkson University receiving his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Class of 1960. He started his career at General Motors and later spent 29 years with Xerox retiring as an executive. In retirement, Dick stayed active by opening his own real estate firm. He loved to travel, spending time at his winter home in Scottsdale and being in the outdoors snowmobiling, golfing and hiking. Dick’s strong Catholic faith was important to him as well community and supporting those in need serving as an ALS coordinator, volunteering at Lambs Farm, serving meals at the senior center or driving seniors for eldercare. He was big-hearted man who left a lasting impression on those near him.

Dick is survived by his wife Donna of 40 years; his children Scott (Betsy), Bob, Cindy Crawford (Brett Anderson), Sheila Johnson (Adam Dolby) and Greg (Sherri) Roberts; his grandchildren Derek, Asha, Ty, Patrick, Sarah, Matt, Sam, Jack, Tommy and Gillian; his great-grandchildren Ella and Derek Jr; his first wife Patricia Sheffield; and his siblings Beverly, David and Dan (Wendy) Boyd. He was preceded in death by his sister Donna Boyd

Visitation for Dick will be from 4:00-8:00pm Thursday July 29th at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. Funeral Mass will be 10:30am Friday July 30^th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E Maple Ave, Libertyville with interment to follow at Ascension Cemetery.
