Obituary of Michael Anthony Kelly

Michael Anthony Kelly, 61, longtime Libertyville resident passed away suddenly Sept. 25, 2021 at his home. Mike grew up in Libertyville graduating from Rockland, Highland and Libertyville High School. He enjoyed sports whether supporting his favorite Chicago teams or playing on the “Killer Pigs” softball team or on the golf course. Mike was a believer in service, was a frequent volunteer, and was proud to be a Rotarian. Outside his professional career in banking, Mike enjoyed working on his lawn and garden. Above all, Mike cherished his family and is remembered for his countless family trips throughout the world. He could appreciate the simple things in life, a good meal and above all, time with his grandchildren. Mike will be dearly missed.

Mike is survived by his former wife Sybil, he was the proud “Bompa” to Sophie, Julia and David, his dearest brothers Tom (Heather) and Larry (Wendy), loving niece Katie, and many extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Martin and Nancy.

Funeral services for Mike will be held at 10:30am Oct 12^th at Ascension Catholic Cemetery, 1920 Buckley Rd, Libertyville where he will be laid to rest with his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mundelein/Vernon Hills Rotary, PO Box 365, Mundelein, IL 60060. Funeral arrangements by McMurrough Funeral Chapel (847) 362-2626.
