Obituary of Thomas E Paulson
Thomas E. Paulson, 88, of Vernon Hills, passed away peacefully on Oct 18, 2021. Tom was born in Chicago and graduated from Mount Carmel High School, received his Bachelor of Science from Fournier Institute of Technology and his Master of Science from the University of Illinois. Following college, Tom had a long successful career in Electrical Engineering. Outside of work, his passions in life were fishing, classical music, and had a great appreciation for art. His two favorite food groups were quality chocolates and cold beer. He is remembered for his wry and dry sense of humor. Tom’s true legacy comes from his two most important priorities in life; his deep and abiding Catholic faith and love of family. His passing leaves a hole in our hearts, but with his life of quiet dedication and cheerful good humor he has shown us all the way.
Tom is survived by his loving children Nancy (Bill) Mescher, Thomas, Michael (Valerie), John (Dawn), Steve (Kim) and Anne (Greg) Johns; his cherished grandchildren Tom, Therese, Dan and Elizabeth, Rick (Katie), Mark (Meghan), Lauren (Kyle), Sean, Erin, Emma, Annabelle, Steven, Michael and Matthew; his treasured great-grandchildren Maggie, Abby and Olivia; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 54 years Mary Jo (2012); his grandson Paul Mescher (2009); his sister Norma (Jim) Hill and brother Dick (Chris) Paulson.
Visitation for Tom will be from 4:00-8:00pm on Thursday October 21 at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am on Friday October 22 at Church of St. Mary, 175 E Illinois Rd, Lake Forest, IL 60045. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Evanston.
