Obituary of Alan R Lew

Please share a memory of Alan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Alan R. Lew, aged 62, peacefully passed away on June 18, 2023, at Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Born in Chicago to Francis and Anna Marie, he spent his formative years in Elk Grove Village. Alan's pursuit of knowledge led him to graduate from Marquette University, where he earned a degree in Accounting. Discovering his true calling, he became a certified financial planner and dedicated an admirable 32 years of his life to Ameriprise. Alan derived immense joy from establishing personal connections with his clients, providing them with essential guidance throughout the years.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Alan was a devoted supporter of the Chicago Bears, having held season tickets for over 15 years. His outgoing nature propelled him to engage actively in various aspects of his life, such as serving as treasurer for his neighborhood Homeowners Association. Through this role, he fostered stronger community bonds, contributing to a more enriched neighborhood experience.

Alan's unwavering commitment extended to his children's sporting activities, where he enthusiastically coached them in baseball, softball, football, and basketball. An adventurer at heart, he reveled in staying active and participating in sports, whether it be his beloved softball league or impromptu pickup games. His affection for his home and garden was evident, but he held a special fondness for his meticulously maintained grass. Alan's love for animals shone brightly, and he will always be remembered for his daily runs with his huskies.

Building connections with others was Alan's passion, evident in his cherished moments shared over a cold beer with his legion of friends. He had unbounded energy with his young son Brady, as they were always pursuing new adventures.  He took great pride in witnessing his son's recent graduation from EMT school and fire academy and his weekly phone calls with his daughter Ericka brought him immense happiness. Alan eagerly anticipated his daughter Vanessa's upcoming wedding. He was a proud grandpa of precious Nicole, which at first sight gave him an immense sense of pride and joy. So proud of being a grandpa and knowing his little fussbudget has a little girl. His favorite time with Nicole was holding her tight and saying, “I love you”.

Alan R. Lew leaves behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and warmth. His memory will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him, reminding us of the value of fostering meaningful relationships and embracing life's adventures. May he rest in peace.

Alan is survived by his loving wife of nearly 15 years Michelle (nee Brendel); his loving children Ericka (Scott) Donovan, Ryan, Vanessa (fiancé Jeremy Guerrero), and Brady; his dearest granddaughter Nicole Donovan; his adoring mother Anna Marie and his cherished sisters Christine (Scott) Hussar and Beth Soelke and many nieces and nephews.
