Obituary of Richard J Galla

Richard J. Galla (78), of Libertyville, Illinois passed away peacefully on March 12, 2015 with his loving family at his side. Richard was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be greatly missed. He was born and raised in the Chicago land area where he met and married the love of his life Annette Panek. This started the beginning of a blessed and successful life. He proudly served in the National Guard. He founded R.J. Galla Company, Inc. Insurance Agency in Grayslake, Illinois which has been proudly serving its clients for 45 years. He is remembered for being a strong proponent for, and dedicated his professional life to supporting the Illinois Community Colleges and Commercial Businesses. His expertise was highly regarded in the Insurance Industry. Richard was an avid golfer. He enjoyed himself and the people so very much he spent time with on the course. Always fun, smiles and laughter abound (not to mention a lot of lost golf balls,” mulligans” and “gimmee's”). He loved the game so much, that he earned the nickname "Arnold" (Arnold Palmer was his favorite). As a musician himself, he had a deep affection for Jazz. His traits of courage, strength, acceptance, never being afraid and welcoming challenge were second to none. He helped, inspired and touched the lives of many around him! Richard is survived by his wife Annette of 57 years, his four children Richard G. (Ricky) & wife Kristen, Connie & husband Tony, David & wife Roberta and Rachel (and her faithful companion “Bully”); grandchildren, Jessica (Boo Boo), Joseph (Goey), Jillian (silly-Jilly) and Henry; great-grandchildren Alexa, Grace, Izzy, Josephine, Olivia and Jaxen; his loving brother Gerald and brother in-law's Ronnie & Joey (The Big Guy), and many relatives and friends. Visitation for Richard will be Thursday March 19th from 3:00 – 8:00 pm at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place (Rt. 176, 1 Block East of Milwaukee Ave) Libertyville. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday March 20th at 10:00 am at St. Joseph Catholic church, 121 E Maple Ave, Libertyville, followed by a luncheon held at Greggs Landing (White Deer Run Golf Course) 250 West Greggs Pkwy. Vernon Hills. A private interment will be held at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville.
