Obituary of William E. Armstrong

William E. Armstrong, 67, of Mettawa, passed away Oct.21,2016. Mr. Armstrong was born in Libertyville; was a graduate of Libertyville High School and Northwestern University graduating with honors. He had retired from the US Military Processing Center, US Department of Defense. Mr. Armstrong was a former trustee for the Village of Mettawa and former chairman for COVE (Children’s Outreach Vocational Education) of Kapeeka, Uganda and was a member of the Libertyville Masonic Lodge. He is survived by his wife Carol nee Batson of 23 years of marriage; his children Tom Lorenz, Tammie Smith and Karen (Arthur) Barrie; his grandchildren Joshua Lorenz, Ryan Baker, Kyle Baker, Madison Baker and Madeline Barrie; his niece Jennifer Armstrong- Palmer and his brothers Robert (Cathy) Armstrong and Stuart (Susan) Armstrong. William is preceded in death by his parents Allen and Dorothy Armstrong. Funeral Mass will be 10:00AM Wed. Oct.26 at St. Mary of Vernon Catholic Church, Rt.45, Indian Creek, IL. Interment Ivanhoe Cemetery, Mundelein. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4-8 PM at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place, (Rt 176, 1 Blk East of Milwaukee Ave) Libertyville and Wed. from 9-10:00AM at St. Mary of Vernon.
