In the eighth-grade variety show, on May 29, 1963, Dale was in the Mitch Miller Group.
From the eighth-grade year book, we know that Dale was born on February 12 and he went to Maine West. His pet peeve was school. His ambition was to be a doctor of dentistry and a surgeon. He willed his height to Lorette Gates. It was predicted that Dale and I would be prominent ditch diggers for the Therese Snow Sewer Lines Company. Can you imagine Dale without some sport activities?
Dale was a forward on the Saint Mary's basketball team. In the championship game of the Maryville Don Bosco tournament, Dale scored nine points in the 46-45 overtime victory. For the season, Dale scored 106 points. The ideal boy would be as friendly as Dale.
From the 25-year class reunion year book, we know that Dale was the owner and president of Northern Environmental Systems. He had a B.S. from Quincy College and an Engineering degree from the University of Illinois Graduate Extension. He was married to Jeanne M. Eppers Haase. They had two children - Matthew and Meredith.
His worst job was stacking books for a book factory. His best job was his present occupation. His favorite grade school memory was grade school basketball games/parties after those games (not necessarily in that order). His best experience since grade school was actually breaking some of the Ten Commandments. His message or thought to share was, "I probably won't realize how much I miss St. Mary's until the night of the reunion and seeing our former classmates."
We had speeches in alphabetical order. Cathy Green said, "I always lined up in front of Dale Haase."
Dale said, "You always looked good from behind Cathy."
Dale was a powerful rebounder and a great friend.

Dale was my teacher at Lincoln in the 70's and my friend in the golf league. He also taught all of my children. He was loved by all who knew him. The wonderful example he set of being a super quality individual to thousands of students is and always will be a living testament to those he touched. He is irreplaceable and I will remember him always with a smile in my heart. Join in honoring their life - plant a memorial tree

My youngest son, Liam, will be in 8th grade at Lincoln come August. His soccer team played yesterday, most of the boys classmates who knew and respected and laughed with Mr Haase. Their pre-game cheer was “Dale!” He knew kids ... he would’ve smiled I’m sure.
Last year Liam asked Mr Haase to sign his yearbook. He asked him to write down the phrase Liam loved best, the one Dale used most gym classes: Stop The Ugliness!! It still makes Liam laugh.
His older brother, Emmett, will make three of us sliding up to Mr Haase’s celebration of life this afternoon. Emmett is a rising Junior at Maine South who smiles at his memories of Lincoln gym classes. Today is his birthday. D-Day plus 75 years. A wonderful day for us to salute a singular spirit in our sons’ lives, with thanks.

I am so saddened that Mr. Haase has passed. I never had him, but he was a very nice guy who was kind to everyone. I was a student at Lincoln and he always nice to me in the hallways. Lincoln is forever grateful for having Mr. Haase as a teacher. My thoughts and prayers go to his family right now. He will be missed❤️

As a longtime classmate of Dale’s I am so saddened to read this. Dale was a great guy and a super coach! As a Libertyville resident I had the opportunity to run into Dale over the years. I know this is a huge loss to his family my sincere condolences. .

My husband Emmett and I attended Quincy College with Dale and Jeanne. My earliest memory of Dale is at parties where he was known for his smile, humor, and quick wit, aside from, at times, crazy antics. Emmett also saw him more than I as recently as when the "boys" gathered in Galena for a weekend. However, when we did get together we were always enriched by his spirit. We were lucky to have known him, and have him as a dear friend. Our best to you, Jeanne, and the children. Mary Jo Murphy

My deepest sympathies to Jeanne, Matthew, Meredith and extended family members.
Dale was the consummate friend; trustworthy, loyal, caring, great sense of humor and wise beyond his years. It was my good fortune to have met Dale 27 years ago as my family and I relocated to a new job from central Illinois. We had much in common with both being educators, sports enthusiasts, golf, and enjoying the outdoors. There's a void in my life as I'm sure in others as well. Some people come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts and we are forever greatful. Dale was that such person. I will mourn as stated in Matthew 5:4 but as time moves forward I can hear Dale say "snap out of it" don't forget me and when you recall memories please do so without having them precipitate any pain, regret or remorse. Find your meaning for living, love and care for your family as that is your legacy and cherish your friends.
It was my good fortune to have known Dale as a friend. How lucky I am to have someone that makes saying goodbye to so hard.

When you walked into Lincoln Middle School and asked any student who their favorite teacher was they always said Mr. Haase. When a teacher needed advice from someone about school, home, family etc. Dale was always the guy to listen and give advice from his wealth of experiences. I have spent many days and nights on and off the golf course with Dale. He included me on trips up north with Don Pasier and he treated me like a true friend from the first time I met him. He was a man of humor, love, and true commitment to his family and friends. I am praying for him, his family, and for all of his friends who are at a loss right now. Dale you the man!!
