Obituary of Dale Haase

Dale Haase passed away June 3, 2019 surrounded by family. 

For over 25 years, Dale taught physical education at Lincoln Middle School in Park Ridge, Illinois.   He was the consummate sports fanatic.  His love of sports started in high school where he played football and was part of the Maine West baseball team – a team that one year won the state championship and was a highlight in Dale’s life.  He was offered full-ride college scholarships in both baseball and football, but took the baseball scholarship at Quincy University, because as Dale said, at 6' 1"  he would have been killed if he played football.  He played semi-pro baseball and as a father became involved in Libertyville Little League as a coach and a Board Member.  He coached GLSA youth soccer for his daughter Meredith, and was instrumental in bringing and starting lacrosse with Matt in Libertyville where he coached varsity lacrosse at the high school for many years.  Golf was another of Dale’s passions and he loved his annual trips to Michigan.  Trips to the Northwoods and Eagle River were many and as often as he could, where he enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling.  

The light of Dale’s life was his grandchildren.  He was the ultimate “Papa” because as we all know, he was a giant kid himself.  Our greatest sadness is that his grandchildren will not fully experience Dale’s love and zest for life. 
 
Dale is survived by his wife Jeanne Haase; daughter Meredith (Steve) Podolski; son Matthew (Jill) Haase; grandchildren: Quinn, Ava, Griffin, Yeardley, Mae and Cullen; his sister Nancy (Steve) Potisuk and brother Neal (Sue) Haase.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday June 6 from 4-8pm at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl (Rt 176, 1 Block East of Milwaukee Ave) Libertyville.
