My most heartfelt condolences to Joanies family. I learned of her passing only last year. Apologies for the lateness of posting.
Joanne meant the world to me, I adored her. She was like having the perfect little sister.
We shared numerous stories and I learned all about her over the years. We shared a passion for vintage jewelry and I still have a pair of earrings she gave me.
We had some great phone conversations since I live in California. We did get to meet years ago when I was traveling through Ohare airport. Her and Bill drove to meet my husband and I. Wish we would of had more time but, I realise how fortunate I was to have known such a wonderful, special lady. She will forever be in my heart. I loved her dearly.

I worked with Joan & had the amazing blessing of being in her group for the vendor show last year. That was one of my favorite days because I got to know a beautiful woman even better. Joan had such a kind, meek beautiful heart & she loved her family. She would always talk about her boys & how proud she was of them. My prayers are with your entire family, I am very sorry for your loss.

Joanie and I met back in 1990, Motorola Days. For the next six years one or both of us was pregnant. Between the two of us we have seven boys, most are men now. We celebrated birthdays together, kids played and grew up together, shopping, ect. I remember my first time at the Casio in Elgin, Joan, Bill,Dan and I met there for my birthday and Joan asked me how much money Dan and I brought and I said 10 for him and 10 for me. They laughed so hard at me. But I played for hours and thanks to Bill, I came home with 230 dollars. I am truly gonna miss you. You have always been there for me. Joanie you will always be in my heart and my prayers. I will never forget you. First my heart broke because I thought I would never see you, but I will see you again in Heaven. Love you Joanie

The best part of going to visit my grandparents (Jonh & Ladima Wright) on Jefferson St., besides getting to hang out with them, was getting to see Joanie and Emily. When grandma was still alive we would hang out in her kitchen and "help" her bake whatever delicious goodies she was making. We had fun weather it was baking, sharing them with the rest of the neighbors, or just eating them.
We pestered grandpa a lot, too, when we weren't playing in the Donald Duck sprinkler, on the slip-n-slide, or having "tea" (aka hot coacoa). We were always asking him questions about nature. He of course was always willing to teach us. He knew a lot about nature, and was always willing to stop and tell us what we wanted to know.
He however hesitated when we would come up pleading for him to help with all the baby animals we would find that were hurt or motherless. He had no problem teaching us about natures' way with life, but we could never talk him into letting us keep the animals at his house so we could nurse them back to health.
Luckily my mom was as much of an animal lover as we were and always took them in. Joanie would help me name them. Mom and I would nurse them back to health. Sometimes we would bring them back to the Jefferson St. neighborhood to let them go with Joanie. I was always to keep her informed how the animals were doing.
We would hang out on her front porch a lot; just talking, playing, and trading cards. One card we both had to have the Alice Cooper card. It was so cool. He had a snake around his neck and told about him on the back. Her love of Alice Cooper goes way back.
After she and Emily moved from Jefferson we still kept in touch. We would see each other on our birthdays and sleepovers. She was always funny. We had a lot of fun singing into hair brushes to our favorite songs. Of course she loved telling scary ghost stories. She even introduced me to some great gals who became friends in Jr. high and high school later.
I have thought of these days fondly and often. My biggest regret is not getting together with her in our adult life. I always loved hearing about her wonderful family and her latest project she was doing on Face Book. She always embraced life to the fullest and was a wonderfully bright light that will be greatly missed.
I know she has gotten with grandma and had some pie and visited with grandpa already.

Joan and I attended GHS together back in early/mid 80's. I was shocked, just today, to find a post on FB regarding her passing. I remember her as a pretty, intelligent girl with a great smile and witty sense of humor. We reconnected on FB just a couple of years ago. My sympathy to her family and close friends...her husband and children. Sorrow endures for the night, but joy comes in the morning. Godspeed to you Joan!
