Obituary of Lisa M Nielsen
Lisa M Nielsen, 65, of Mundelein, passed away on February 25, 2023 after a courageous battle with cancer. After graduating high school, Lisa began a long successful career as a legal secretary for law firms in Chicago and throughout Lake County. Her organizational skills carried over from her professional life into her community involvement. She served as a Committee Member/ Logistics Chair for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life for over 15 years. She was devoted to her faith and was a Catechist for 23 years, teaching religious education following in the footsteps of her mom Pat Smuck. Lisa loved fishing and had a great eye for a bargain, loved Glamping summer trips with her family (as long as a hairdryer was nearby), and cherished her many Bruce Springsteen concerts. Her family was the greatest pride in her life, and she loved sharing her faith by taking her grandchildren to church. Lisa is remembered for her strong will and determination to fight through everything with grace and devotion, and has left a wonderful legacy for her family to follow.
Lisa is survived by her devoted husband Peter of 45 years; her loving children Mary (Ryan) Dunsworth, Sarah (John) Lawless and Elizabeth; her dearest grandchildren, Madeline, Grace & Allie Dunsworth and Owen, Henry, and Olivia Lawless; her adoring siblings Arthur (Kathy), Mike, Amy (Kevin) Murphy. She is preceded in death by her parents Art and Pat Smuck, her daughter Megan and her sister Mary.
