Obituary of John D. Marion

John David Marion, 79, of Libertyville IL died peacefully in his sleep March 20, 2023. John was born in Flint, Michigan on July 9, 1943, to the late Julian Everett Marion and the late Mary Dorothy Kalakay.  John is preceded in death by his brother Donald Marion and sister Priscilla (Marion) Campbell. John grew up in Flint and attended Michigan State University, studying Accounting and Finance.  After graduation, John moved to Chicago, where he met his wife, Joan Rdzak.  They married August 5, 1967 and together raised 5 wonderful children, Jennifer, John Jr., Jill, Julie and Jessica. 

John was an avid golfer and often was found enjoying 18 holes on Sunday mornings.  John also loved to travel for work and for fun.  John especially loved traveling to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to enjoy the warm weather during cold Illinois winters.  He was a person who loved to have fun and was very social with everyone.  He will be missed.

John is survived by his wife Joan, and children Jennifer Allen (Jamison), John Marion Jr., Jill Jacobucci (Jim), Julie Simpson (Jason) and Jessica Marion and granddaughters Jaclyn, Michaela and Bethany Allen, Amanda and Melissa Jacobucci, and grandson Matthew Simpson. A memorial visitation will be held on Thursday, March 23rd from 4 pm to 8 pm at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville IL.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, 121 East Maple, Libertyville.  Burial to follow at Lakeside Cemetery.
