Eugene passed at the ripe age of 93 on April 29, 2023.
Originally from New York City, the son of Margaret and Eugene Trautlein, he attended Mt St Michael Academy in the Bronx, and Fordham University. He joined the legal department of Union Carbide, and subsequently obtained his law degree from Fordham. He had a distinguished career in the patent department, wrote the first patent for silicone, pled cases in Holland, Czechoslovakia, and Japan, and before the US Supreme Court.
He met his wife, Ramona, at work; they married and settled in Wantagh, Long Island. There they had a daughter, Barbara, and a son, Stephen.
He was a lifelong Giants football fan, prolific letters-to-the editor writer and joke teller, and lover of Manhattan cocktails. He and Mona were avid world travelers, and doting grandparents.
He is survived by his children, and his grandchildren, Jasmine, Eric, Veronica, and Alex. He also leaves behind his brother, Joseph, and was predeceased by his sister, Joan.
