Obituary of Gregorio Gonzales Jr.

Gregorio Gonzales Jr., of Lake Bluff, IL, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on July 13, 2023, at the age of 60. 

He is survived by his beloved wife Joji Gonzales, his cherished daughter Isabel Gonzales, his loving mother Pilar Gonzales, and dearest siblings: Willy, Celia, Chet, Annie, Lulu, and Sally. He is preceded in death by his father Gregorio Gonzales Sr. 

Jun was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. He resided in Troy Compound Pasong Tamo Tandang Sora Ave. Quezon City. He was a member of our community elementary and college basketball leagues. He was a graduate of Business Administration and held office in a government institution in the Philippines as an event organizer and engaged in outreach programs in the community. He also joined the Postal Department in the United States. Jun was a generous person, loving, cheerful, a true friend indeed, supportive and dependable especially in times of need. He was compassionate and flexible in challenging situations. 

His friends described him as a person full of surprises and fun filled jokes to interrupt any dull moments, charming and open to different perspectives and accommodating of others’ views and doing things for the benefit of others.  

Some of his personal interests are his delight in music, loved to sing, dance and a good cook. He had a great affection in celebrating family events especially all holiday gatherings.

Lastly, Jun will be remembered as a bubbly individual with an exquisite smile and a distinct voice that you will recognize from afar. He was a lovable and affectionate husband, uncle, friend and brother. But most importantly,  the best Dad in the world. He will be missed.

A Memorial Visitation will take place Saturday, August 22, 2023 from 8AM-9AM at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville, IL. Funeral Mass will be held 10AM Saturday, August 22, 2023 with a Memorial Visitation one hour prior at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E. Maple Avenue, Libertyville, IL. Interment to follow at Ascension Catholic Cemetery, 1920 W. Buckley Road, Libertyville, IL.
