Obituary of Karalyn Marie Peters
Karalyn Marie Peters, 43, of Bisbee, AZ, passed away surrounded by family on January 21, 2024 in Lake Forest, IL after a fierce near 3 year battle with cancer.
Kara was born in Waukegan, IL to John and Arlene Peters on April 22, 1980. She attended Waukegan High School and graduated in 1998, then went on to earn a Hospitality degree from Southern Illinois University. Kara became a forest firefighter specializing in helicopter rappel, business owner and entrepreneur in Bisbee, AZ, where she owned Black Sheep Imports, Tumbleweed Gypsy and co-owned and managed the Bisbee Grand Hotel. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed nature in all forms. She enjoyed hiking, swimming, running, playing soccer and being present in nature. Kara loved music, playing her guitar, composing, and singing with the Prose and Cons band. The colorful sunsets, the untouched beauty of nature and peace the southwest offered sang to Kara’s heart and soul. She sowed a beautiful life in Arizona filled with friendships, love and family.
Kara is preceded in death by her loving mother Arlene, Aunt Barbara Black and cousin Armand Lukaszewski, Aunt Mary Cox, grandparents Ivan & Carmella Petroski and Lee and Florence Peters.
Kara is survived by her adored husband Anthony Morris and step-daughter Mya Morris, father John Peters and bonus mom Maura Hopkins, sister Kristyne Cochrane and nephews Jonathan and Christopher Cochrane, loving aunts, uncles and cousins, and her beloved four legged friend, Buddy.
Private funeral services were held by McMurrough Funeral Chapel, Libertyville, IL. We will honor Kara’s wishes and share her cremains in the beauty of the natural world through our travels.
In lieu of flowers, Kara would prefer you to celebrate her life and love of friendship over a fine drink at The Bisbee Grand Hotel; remember to be safe and book your rooms early. Memorial donations may also be made to the American Cancer Society.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to everyone who stayed actively engaged in Kara’s life. Kara lived life to the fullest and would wish for you to do the same.
