Obituary of James R. Hironimus
James R. Hironimus, 83, of Antioch, passed away on March 6, 2024, at his home. Born and raised in Waukegan, he pursued his passion for science, earning Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Northern Illinois University. Jim was a dedicated educator, shaping the minds of future leaders for over 25 years in the Highland Park High School District as a Biology and science teacher.
In 1980, he realized his dream by building his home in Antioch, where he found solace in nature. Jim cherished the sight of wildflowers blooming in the woods, the diverse wildlife, and the beauty nature offered. He lived by his environmental principles and was a true steward of the Earth.
Jim had a deep love for travel, particularly enjoying his adventures in Africa and Egypt. He was a loving husband, brother, uncle, and dear friend, and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his sister Donna (Lonnie) Smith and his brother John (Jatta) Hironimus and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his spouse Patrick Raqua; and his sister Dorothy (the Late Geroge).
Private burial services will be held in Rochester, Wisconsin. Funeral arrangements by McMurrough Funeral Chapel, Libertyville (847) 362-2626. Please sign the guestbook at libertyvillefuneralhome.com
