Obituary of Kathryn Sackheim
Kathryn Sackheim, 92, longtime resident of Libertyville, died Sunday, 6/16/24. Her husband of 61 years, Judd, was by her side.
Kathryn was a member of St. Joseph Parish for 57 years, where she served on the Funeral Committee and was a member of the Guild of the Blessed Virgin. She was a busy volunteer, coordinating Meals on Wheels for Catholic Charities and helping countless customers in the Condell Hospital gift shop for more than 25 years.
In 1957, Kathryn was the first female computer programmer for Sears, Roebuck and Co, where she met her future husband. Together, she and Judd traveled the world, seeing exotic sights, and enjoying drinks in local pubs and bistros.
In addition to Judd, Kathryn is survived by her two daughters, Annie and Jane (Matt) Schuster and her grandson Trevor, with whom she played endless rounds of Uno.
Visitation for Kathryn will be held on Sunday June 23rd from 3:00 – 5:00 pm at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 am on Monday June 24th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E Maple Ave, Libertyville. Private interment at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville.
