Obituary of Andrew Boraca
Andrew Boraca, 59, longtime Grayslake resident, passed away July 16, 2024.
Andrew was born in Chicago to Gerald and Antoinette. He graduated from Libertyville High School class of ’83. Known for his relentless work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, he purchased and managed properties at age 18, beginning his long career as a determined entrepreneur.
For over a decade, Andrew was the founder and operator of ART Imagewear, a screen-printing business in Grayslake. As the family’s go-to handyman, he could fix anything. His compassion and generosity were evident in his efforts to help those in need. An avid reader with an impressive intellect and memory, he was a master of trivia and a walking encyclopedia of knowledge on many topics such as professional sports, especially Chicago teams, and attended countless Bears, Cubs, and Blackhawks games. He loved the arts, especially the theatre, and brought his wife and children to many shows at the Mariott Theatre in Lincolnshire. His passion for music went beyond his historical knowledge; he was a self taught musician, favoring the drums. If he wasn't captivating a room with stories, sharing his knowledge and wisdom, or making people laugh, he was cranking up tunes.
His favorite roles were being a dad and grandpa. Despite juggling multiple jobs, he coached all his children’s sports teams and never missed a game, later forming special bonds with his grandchildren. Andrew was a devoted husband to Tracy for 32 years, sharing a love that never went away. Known for his positive impact on everyone he met, Andrew always had time for a friend in need.
Andrew is survived by his mother Antoinette; his former wife Tracy; his children Ryanne (Ryan), Rachel (Matthew) and Allison (Michael); his grandchildren Chase, Bodhan, Danica, and Atlas; his lifelong best friend Ray Wrzek; and his brother Michael. He is preceded in death by his father Gerald and his dear friend Michael McNamee.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM on Tuesday July 23rd at Saint Mary of Vernon Catholic Church, 236 US Hwy 45, Indian Creek, IL with a visitation 1 hour prior to Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the American Heart Association www.heart.org would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements by McMurrough Funeral Chapel (847) 362-2626.
