Obituary of Dennis E. Vocaty
Dennis E. Vocaty, 84, of Arlington Heights, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024. A proud US Army paratrooper, Dennis (aka Denny, Daddio, and Papa) was born and raised in Chicago to John and Helen Vocaty. He was a dedicated and hardworking man, spending his career as a truck driver for various companies. Dennis was driven to provide a better life for his family and often worked multiple jobs to achieve that goal.
Beyond his strong work ethic, Dennis had a zest for life and adventure. He and his wife, Carmelina, traveled the world together, exploring diverse cultures and creating lasting memories. An avid scuba diver, Dennis had the opportunity to experience the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia and the crystal-clear waters of Belize. He was passionate about photography, capturing his many adventures through his lens. In his leisure time, Dennis enjoyed classic Westerns and television shows from the 1950s and 60s.
Dennis will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, his straightforward nature, and his unwavering dedication to his family and friends. He was a wonderful and reliable dad, grandpa, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Dennis is survived by his loving children Joseph M. (Regina) Vocaty and Renee J. Wright; his cherished grandchildren C.J. Vocaty, Jennifer J. Wright and Ashley L. Wright; his dear son-in-law James A. Wright; and was a wonderful uncle to many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dennis is preceded in death by his adoring wife Carmelina (nee Ribando), his parents, and his siblings Pearl, Marlene, Diane, Rich and Jack.
Visitation for Dennis will be held from 4:00 – 8:30 PM on Wednesday Dec 4th and from 9:00 – 11:00 AM on Thursday Dec 5th at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. A funeral service to follow the Thursday visitation starting at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
