Obituary of Mary Lou Montellano
Mary Lou Montellano, a beloved resident of Libertyville for over 60 years and known for her vibrant, loving & infectious personality and terrific sense of humor, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024, at Condell Medical Center. She was a dedicated teacher for over 50 years, leaving a lasting impact on countless young lives. Her career began at Laura B. Sprague Elementary School and culminated at Tamarak Country School, where she nurtured and inspired her students.
A woman of deep faith, Mary was a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church for over six decades where she also taught Sunday school for a good portion of that time. Her unwavering belief guided her throughout her life. She will be fondly remembered for her sweet disposition, her ability to find the silver lining in every situation, and her unconditional acceptance of everyone. Mary's love knew no bounds, and she gave generously to all without expecting anything in return. A guiding light to her children and grandchildren, as well as countless others, Mary will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and faith will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
Mary is survived by her husband Abel of 63 years; her children Veronica (Leo Romeo) Montellano, Laura (Tyler) Dean, Eric (Geri-Lynn) Montellano, and Monica (Ken) Carlson; her grandchildren Oliver and Michelle (Larry Kaganovsky) Montellano,
Visitation for Mary will be from 4:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday December 6th at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 AM on December 7th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E Maple Ave, Libertyville. Interment Ascension Cemetery.
