Obituary of Kay Ann Fredrick
Kay Ann Fredrick, 76, of Mundelein, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to Roy and Jean Zimmerman, Kay met the love of her life, Steve, during their high school years.
Following her passion for caring for others, Kay became a Registered Nurse after graduating from Madison General Hospital. She dedicated nearly 40 years to her nursing career, including 30 years at Gastroenterology Consultants of Libertyville, where she served as a nurse and ultimately retired as office manager.
Beyond her professional life, Kay was a devoted mother and active in her community. She was a dedicated Scout Leader and Football Volunteer, always supporting her children's endeavors. Kay embraced her role as a doting grandmother, cherishing the time she spent getting to know each of her grandchildren.
Kay possessed a vibrant and social personality, making friends wherever she went. She had a kind word for everyone and found joy in connecting with others. An active spirit, she enjoyed water aerobics, bowling, and playing cards with friends. Kay and Steve shared a love of travel, creating cherished memories through their adventures in Canada, Europe, Carribean Islands, and the United States - especially Hawaii and Alaska.
Kay's big heart and loving spirit touched the lives of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Kay is survived by her loving husband of 55 years Steve, her adoring children Jeffrey (Kate) and Matthew (Beth); her cherished grandchildren Andrew, Lainey and Avery; her dearest brother William (Chris) Zimmerman and their child Parker.
Visitation for Kay will be held from 2:30 to 5:00 PM on December 16th at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Pl, Libertyville with a funeral service at 5:00 PM.
