Obituary of Cheng-Ysen Yan

Cheng-Ysen "John" Yan, 68, of Libertyville, Illinois passed peacefully on June 17th, 2014 surrounded by family. He was born in 1945 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, the third of six children. He received a BS in Chemical Engineering and worked in the field for many years in Taiwan. He married Chin-Liu "Lisa" in 1976, before immigrating to the United States in 1979. In 1983, John and Lisa opened Yan's Hunan Inn restaurant in Libertyville. They opened a second restaurant in Waukegan in 1987. After many successful and enjoyable years in the restaurant business, John and Lisa retired in 2012. John enjoyed spending time with family, indulging in his favorite foods, exercising and socializing with friends. He is survived by his wife, Lisa, and his two children: Steve Yan of Chicago, Illinois; and Susan Park of Cambridge, Massachusetts. He is also survived by two grandchildren, four sisters, and a brother. A private viewing will be held at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, Libertyville (847) 362-2626.
