Obituary of Donald Hook

Donald L. Hook VERNON HILLS - Donald L. Hook, 62, passed away July 3, 2014. Northwestern University Alum (Class of '74) and avid/obsessive Northwestern football fan (41 years without a missed home game) and active member of his fraternity Alpha Delta Phi "The Wranglers". Don was a dynamic member of his community serving 30 years with the Vernon Hills Lions Club. He is the current Director of the Lions of Illinois Foundation and past District Governor of Lions District 1F. Don was a former trustee for the Village of Vernon Hills and former member of the Cook Memorial Library Board. He is a current member of the Police Pension Board. Don is a founding member of St. Mary of Vernon Church and pitcher for SMV Blue baseball for over 25 years. Donald is a father, grandfather and community servant and will be greatly missed. Donald is survived by his beloved wife Kathleen (nee Scibor) of nearly 40 years of marriage; his cherished daughters MorganDiaz, Erin (Nathan) Tidd, Michelle (Justin) Dewey; his adored grandchildren Ayden and Caitlin Diaz and Etta Tidd; sister-in-law Michelle (Frank Jr.) Rybinski; siblings in faith and friendship Don and Kathy Steward, Laura Jurey; and his niece Renee Mack and nephews Matt Jurey and Frank Rybinski III. He is preceded in death by his parents Donald and Dolores, step-father Arlen Wilkerson and son Cory Hook. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday July 7, 2014 at 10:00 am at St. Mary of Vernon Catholic Church, 236 U.S. 45, Indian Creek. Visitation will be held Sunday July 6 from 3-8 pm at St. Mary of Vernon. Please wear purple if possible.
