Obituary of Leonard A. Luebking
Please share a memory of Leonard to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Leonard A. Luebking of Fort Myers, Florida, formerly of Fox Lake, Illinois, passed away on January 6 surrounded by family. Leonard was born on June 18, 1933 in Bensenville, Illinois and was a gifted athlete and musician at Bensenville Community High School. Following his graduation he enlisted in the US Army and was a proud veteran of the Korean War. Upon his return he married his sweetheart, “Midge,” and together they shared over 60 years of happiness.
In 1993 Len retired from a national liquor distributor, having realized an award-winning career in sales. In his retirement years he pursued his passion for golf. His dedication to the game rewarded him with a “hole-in-one.” In addition to golf he loved to tinker in construction. Len was a member of the VFW and active in his church in the Knights of Columbus. Family meant everything to him. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His laughter, smile and crazy joke-telling ability will be missed by all whose hearts he touched.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Mary Ann (nee Augustine), three daughters, Robin (David) Thurston, Kelly (Randy) Webster and Leanne (Douglas) Adams, 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; his brothers Lloyd (Jim) Luebking and Warren Luebking, his sisters-in-law Maureen Crowder and Sylvia Luebking, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Therese, his parents, Erwin and Laura, brothers Erwin Jr. (Jenny), George (Sylvia), Ralph (Gert) and sister Marilyn Suter.
