Obituary of Warren Smith

Smith, Warren A. 91, of Libertyville died Wednesday January 23, 2013 in Lincolnshire. Mr. Smith was born March 18, 1921 in Libertyville to his parents, Ray N. and Lillian (nee Effinger) Smith and was a life long resident of the community. He was a graduate of Libertyville Fremont High School and later served with the US Army as a non-commissioned officer in the Pacific during WWII. For his military services he was awarded the Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 2 bronze stars, the bronze service arrowhead, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star, 6 overseas service bars, one service stripe and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a current member of the American Legion Post 329. Following WWII, Warren became the owner of Titus Brothers Electric of Libertyville and was the director of Libertyville National Bank for 25 years. He was active in Boy Scouts, was an avid golfer and a proficient deep sea fisherman. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marguerite (nee Titus) of 63 years of marriage; his parents, Ray and Lillian; his sister, Blanche and his brothers, Allen, Gerald (Marlene) and Ray "Bill" (Margaret Smith). He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Marlene and Margaret Smith and several nieces and nephews. Private funeral services were from McMurrough Funeral Chapel, Libertyville. Entombment was at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. If desired, memorial donations made to the Libertyville American Legion Post 329, 715 N.
