Obituary of Robert L. Morrissey
With heartfelt sadness, Robert “Bob” Morrissey, age 74, of Libertyville passed away at home on Monday, August 21, 2017, from complications of Parkinson’s disease.
Bob was born on December 7, 1942 and resided in North Chicago until moving to Libertyville in 1987 with his family. He graduated from North Chicago High School in 1960, married Mary Alice Salata, and took a route salesman position at Pepsi Cola General Bottlers in Gurnee. Bob retired after 42 years leaving behind a lot of good memories, family, and friends. For many years, Bob’s route included the Libertyville area where he was known to most as “Whitey.”
Bob took great pride in his house, meticulous care of his cars, and was an avid sports fan. He loved the Cubs and was awarded the honor of throwing out the 1st pitch at one of their games. With great fortune, he was able to see them win the World Series. Bob was also a Corvette owner whose hobby was polishing them to a mirror-like finish.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, “Alice”; children: Maureen Morrissey, Robert (Adelah) Morrissey Jr., Kristin (Matthew) Graham; grandchildren: Matthew and Marcus Graham, Chloe Morrissey; mother, Elizabeth “Betty” Morrissey; brother, Edward (Mary Alice) Morrissey; brother-in-law, Gerard Salata; many cousins, nieces, nephews; extended family, Chad and Leah Shoman; and life-long friends, Bob Miller and Tommy Koper.
Preceded in death by his father, Edward “Babe” Morrissey Sr.
