My heartfelt prayers and sympathies to your family. I worked with Mary at CLC, a lovely, kind person.

Mary and I met at a genealogy conference and I had the pleasure of her company on two research trips. We also had gabfests while eating breakfasts over the years. She was an understated genius, yet a gentle person who was easy to be with.
My heart is heavy to know she is no longer gracing our world. Her much-loved family have my sympathy.
She so loved her little Leonie -- how wonderful that she had the joy of being a grandmother!
God speed, Mary. May we meet again in Heaven.

Dear sweet Mary was the thoughtful neighbor who welcomed us to Libertyville with a 2 and 4 year old and #3 arriving a few weeks later. From volunteering to take toddlers to the pool, to sweet treats in a bag left on the door knob, to rides to the airport and emergency lifts to the ER. She never waivered in showering all of us with thoughtful kindness and acts of love over 33 years. I will so miss my special friend. All the Helanders - Bill, Emily, Liz and their families send their love and condolences to Mike, Mary Beth and Sean. You are on our hearts. Willard and Glenn

My Dearest Mary was my ever so kind office mate during the 1980s. I can still hear her quiet voice giving endless advice and counsel to her students whenever they stopped by—which, because she was so supportive, was quite often.
Mary had a wonderfully infectious laugh, a seemingly boundless source of energy, and a smile straight out of a Disney princess. I remember vividly how the two of us struggled through one tech change after another, going from electric typewriters to huge PCs and dot matrix printers, to the quiet hum of laptops and desktop laser printers. She slid from one platform to the next like she’d invented all. But her real magic was as a teacher; she was so incredibly patient and kind to her students. None ever left her office without a smile on their face, their questions answered, their writing abilities improved, and their confidence as students bolstered.
Along with so very, very many people, I shall miss her deeply.

We will always remember Mary--that quiet and quietly sure person, whom you could always
talk to about anything. She had many talents.

Please accept my condolences to the family. Mary was a good person to know at CLC. I am saddened to hear of her passing. I do have some understanding of your grief, as my wife, Betty, passed on due to the effects of Lymphoma she had battled for eight years in 2009. Know that my prayers are with Mary and the family. I know that Mary is now in a better place.
