Obituary of Theodore M. Peters

Theodore M. Peters, 79, US Marine Corps, of Libertyville passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Advocate Condell Medical Center. He was born on May 3, 1938 to Carl and Eleanor Peters of Niles, IL. Ted leaves behind his beloved wife of 31 years, Kathleen C.

Ted is also survived by children Kathy Peters and Kurt Peters of Deerfield Beach, FL, and Karen Peters (Matthew) Brine of Kirkland, WA. Very proud grandfather of Casey Brine. Ted was also a loving step father to Tony Perenchio of Chicago, IL, and Gina Perenchio of Colorado Springs, CO and a fabulous uncle to his niece, Meredyth Marshall, of Libertyville. He is further survived by siblings Carol Adams and Richard Peters, and many nieces and nephews.

Cherished lifelong friends include the Curt Basler family of Cincinnati, OH and (the late) Rick Basler family of Hawthorn Woods, IL. Ted was pre­deceased by his parents.

Ted was a proud US Marine. After leaving Tech-Cor, and retiring as Vice President of Technical Services from Car-O-Liner Company, in the early 1990s, Ted finally had time for his hobbies. He loved tending his garden, extensive landscape projects, golfing, fishing and woodworking. His woodworking produced several pieces of furniture that his family and friends hold dear. Ted also had a special place in his heart for the family’s dogs. The latest, Louie, was his final and biggest challenge. Ted was one of the “good guys”, a man of his word and will be missed.

A Funeral Mass with Military Honors following will be held at 10:00 a.m. on November 4, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E Maple Ave, in Libertyville, IL with a luncheon immediately following. Private burial at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
