Obituary of Silvio J. Lopez
Silvio J. Lopez, 64, of Libertyville, passed away Friday (February 9th, 2018) at Condell Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Chris Lopez, 64, for nearly 42 years, and father to 3 adored children.
Silvio was born in Havana, Cuba on October 17th, 1953 to Silvio Lopez and Margarita Lopez de Cabus. At age 8 he moved to Wisconsin where he quickly became an avid Green Bay Packer fan and passionate fisherman. He graduated from Carroll College in 1975, went on to receive his Master’s in Business, and had a wonderful 32-year career in sales at Silgan Plastics.
Silvio and Chris married in 1976 and enjoyed a life full of adventures and hobbies like golf, travel, and relaxing weekends at their house on Elkhart Lake, WI. Silvio’s greatest pride and joy were his children who he is now watching over.
He is survived by his wife, son Michael (33) and his wife Kate (Theisen) Lopez, daughter Amanda (31) and her husband Jon Hanson, daughter Morgan (28), brother Gaston (63), and many loving nephews, nieces, and extended family.
A time of gathering will be held on Monday, February 12th from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at the McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place (Rt 176, 1 Blk E of Milwaukee Ave), Libertyville. Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 13th at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 121 E Maple Ave, Libertyville at 10:00 am directly followed by a luncheon at O’Toole’s of Libertyville.
