Obituary of George W. Diebold
George W. Diebold, 70, of Fremont Center, was called home to God’s house to join his sister Mary Lou and parents Ralph and Virginia (nee Frederick) Diebold. He passed away quietly Feb. 9, 2018 at Advocate Condell Med. Ctr, the same hospital he was born.
George was a lifelong resident of Fremont Center where he was a member of St. Mary’s parish and was an active volunteer usher. He devoted his life’s work to continuing his family farm and enjoyed milking cows for 60 years, stacking hay bales and keeping livestock. He was a hard worker with a kind soul, was a dear friend to everyone he met and will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his loving partner of 40 years, Jeanne Steinbach; his sisters Darlene (the late Frank) Dorfler and Judy (George) White; friend Patrick Flanigan and nieces and nephews Ed Dorfler, Lois (Steve) Lenzen, George (Cindy) White III and Lisa Tonyan.
Visitation will be Friday Feb 16 from 4 – 8 pm in the narthex of St. Mary of the Annunciation Church, 22333 W. Erhart Rd, Fremont Center where Mass will be celebrated at 10 am Sat. Feb. 17. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
