Obituary of Michael Durkin

Michael Durkin of Libertyville, 84, died Friday, May 24, 2013, at Advocate Condell Medical Center, Libertyville. Michael was born in Louisburgh, Ireland, and had been a resident of Libertyville for the past 27 years. While a resident of Libertyville, Mr. Durkin had been an active member of St. Joseph Parish.
He is survived by his children, Ann (Joseph) Thomas, Michael Patrick, Cathy (Maurice) Griffin and Tricia (Kevin) Lowe; his grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan and Brennan Thomas, Sean, Sheila and Kelly Griffin, and Nathan, Megan and Madeline Lowe; and his sisters, Sarah Reilly and Alice Gallagher.
Mr. Durkin was one of 14 children of the late Patrick and Catherine (nee Gibbons) Durkin. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Agnes T. Durkin.
Funeral services will begin at 12:30 PM Wednesday, May 29, at McMurrough Funeral Chapel, 101 Park Place, Libertyville, and proceed to St. Joseph Church, 128 E. Maple, for Mass at 1 PM. Interment will be in Ascension Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3:00 - 9:00 PM Tuesday May 28, at the funeral chapel.
If desired, memorials made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memphis, TN would be greatly appreciated.
