Obituary of Jialin Song

Jialin Song (宋家林), was taken home peacefully by God on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, after four fearless years fighting with diseases. Jialin was born on December 24, 1937 to his loving parents, Bangqing Song (deceased) and Zuofang Wang (deceased). Jialin is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 55 years, Tao Xu; two children: Qun Song (Jing Liu), Hao Song (Zhongwei Zhou); three grandchildren: Wenjie Song, Allen Zhou, and Jerry Zhou; Eight younger brothers, sisters and their families; and many nephews and nieces. Jialin was a devoted son to his mother and played a father figure to his younger brothers and sisters. Jialin was a loving husband, a respectable father and the most tender and caring grandfather to his three grandchildren. Jialin was a hard-working and low-key person. After retired from a fruitful professorship in Electrical Engineering in 2000, Jialin travelled between China and the USA several times to help take care of grandchildren. Jialin was so proud to see all three grandchildren studying at UIUC. Jialin took hardships in life with courage, grace and perseverance. He always smiled and said “谢谢”- Thank you in Chinese - all physicians, nurses and nurse assistants who had taken care of him learned to speak “谢谢” and often greeted him with that.
